Pastor Carlson was born and reared in Waukegan, IL.  After obtaining a B.S. in Business from Eastern Illinois University he married his wife Janet Lynn.  They have been married for 30 years and have four adult children: Michelle Plonk, Jeffrey Carlson, Daniel Carlson and Brett Carlson.  All of his children pursued their college degrees at Bob Jones University, Greenville, S.C.
